Learning through
community.

Practical training, volunteering and interests beyond my studies and business.

Volunteer

I volunteer with Ku-ring-gai SES and have completed training in chainsaw operation, storm response and working at heights. It lets me keep learning while contributing to my community.

Practical learning
Completing courses has broadened my practical capabilities and taught me to recognise the limits of my training. I need to understand the procedure before applying the skill.
Safety & responsibility
These courses reinforce preparation, risk awareness and working within my level of training.
Working with others
SES training gives me a practical setting to listen, clarify instructions and learn from others. It continues to develop my reliability and communication within a team.

University involvement

Alongside my Bachelor of Commerce, I’m a member of two Macquarie University societies.

MQ Lib Club
Part of my involvement in university life beyond the classroom.
MQ Automotive Society
A connection to my interest in cars, alongside the work I do through Stikkys Detailing.

At the next society event, I’ll aim to contribute to a discussion and note one idea I can apply in study or business.

What I take into the workplace

Business ownership teaches me to take responsibility; SES training reinforces preparation, communication and recognising limits. In a dealership team, I would apply both by listening to colleagues, clarifying instructions and following agreed procedures.
